Web3 Lead Technical Designer (Metaverse)

Job at Improbable

Remote - Ireland

Full time

We are a British metaverse and Web3 technology company pioneering cultural change through the creation of interconnected virtual worlds and environments. From games and entertainment to military planning, we offer opportunities for the transfer of assets, ideas, identity, and influence.

Virtual worlds have a profound impact on the real world. Our goal is to work with partners to create metaverse experiences that enrich and meaningfully extend the potential of our lives, through live interactive events, multiplayer games, entertainment and social spaces – all with cutting-edge technology that allows many thousands of people to interact in high-fidelity environments, at the same time and in the same space.

Your Mission

We are looking to create new massive online experiences in collaboration with our community and partners. We have already started this journey by holding the ScavLab event with over 4,000 players crowding into a single world, and a live Meet and Greet with K-Pop star Alexa attended by thousands of fans as well as launched 'The Otherside' with Yoga Labs, see here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NEUPQzH0D0

  • Direct more junior technical designers in creating features throughout the design and implementation process.
  • Design and build gameplay features that set a standard for others to follow.
  • Manage a growing team of designers and technical designers.
  • See your work in players hands and iterate the features over time with player feedback.
  • Drive the development of tools and pipelines to assist content creators in producing work quickly and efficiently.
  • Work alongside the technical leads to plan out features and dependent systems, and then schedule work tasks accordingly
  • Manage a growing team of designers and technical designers.
  • Inspire and motivate the design team to produce high-quality content within the project deadlines
  • Solve problems and improve the player experience by collaborating closely with other disciplines.

We'd like to hear from you if you identify with the following:

  • A desire to grow and develop a team, considering each individual's wellbeing, differing needs and goals for their careers.
  • A desire to understand the moment-to-moment, hour-to-hour, day-to-day and week-to-week impact of the features you design and build.
  • Display a high degree of discipline in following and creating technical design processes.
  • A passion to create mechanics that layer together to create depth and complexity without overwhelming the player.
  • An understanding of the value of using Jira (or another tracking methodology) to organize work and communicate priorities and design goals.
  • Ability to prioritize & manage end-to-end design projects across the team, interfacing with different disciplines.
  • A desire to create guides, and other important documentation for more junior designers.
  • A passion to mentor more junior technical designers in best technical practices, growing their skills through feedback and reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine Blueprint development and best practices.

While we believe the mentioned experiences could be important, we're keen to hear from people that have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of the requirements, please still apply!
