We are a team of world class builders and researchers with expertise across several domains: Ethereum Protocol Engineering, Layer-2, Decentralized Finance (DeFi), Miner Extractable Value (MEV), Smart Contract Development, Security Auditing and Formal Verification. Working to solve some of the most challenging problems in the blockchain space, we frequently collaborate with renowned companies, such as Ethereum Foundation, StarkWare, Gnosis Chain, Aave, Flashbots, xDai, Open Zeppelin, Forta Protocol, Energy Web, POA Network and many more.  

We actively contribute to Ethereum core development, EIP's and network upgrades together with the Ethereum Foundation, and other client teams. Today, there are nearly 200 of us working remotely from over 45+ countries.

We're looking for someone to join our Legal team (which currently comprises 3.5 full time employees), and ideally to act as deputy to our Chief Legal Officer.

The role:

  • Provide legal advice on, and draft and review contracts with partners, clients, and staff
  • Advising on corporate and finance legal matters
  • Monitor legal risk in documentation, and giving advice on which risks to accept and which to reject
  • Ensure legal compliance with client and employee due diligence requirements, sanctions law
  • Developing and protecting Nethermind’s intellectual property portfolio
  • Provide company secretarial and governance advice to group companies
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and data protection
  • Stay up-to-date with new legal regulations, and disseminate relevant information across the company
  • Oversee legal dimensions to other functions’ initiatives
  • Nice to have - good understanding of the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem
  • Have good knowledge of financial-related regulations, and employment law
  • Work with HR, Accounting, and Product teams to ensure compliance
  • Work remotely and autonomously

You Have:

  • Full legal qualification plus strong relevant experience
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Enthusiasm for embracing LegalTech
  • Efficient and cost-effective, close management of external counsel costs
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills
